Essentials of Painting Still Lifes

Description

Many artists find that still lifes are easy and enjoyable subjects to paint. Once you solve how to set up the composition, you can take the reference at face value.  This recorded workshop series will give you a solid foundation for arranging objects so they are in just the right place for a strong design. Included is a lecture that covers most of the necessary compositional aspects.  Demonstrations will be in oils, pastels, and watercolor. All of these factors will lead you to creating your own outstanding still life paintings.

You will learn how to:

• Manipulate edges to avoid a pasted-on effect
• Render objects so they appear to be 3-D
• Avoid rigid lines and shapes
• Paint convincing glass, porcelain, and shiny metal
• Create professional backgrounds
• Draw correct perspective for round objects
• Depict fruits that look edible
• Improve symmetrical shapes
